Can I import many checks at once?

The Bulk Import tool allows you to import many checks at once by uploading a spreadsheet in either XLSX or CSV format. The tool saves time and effort by streamlining the process of setting up checks, especially for large-scale deployments or environments with many URLs or endpoints.

If you need to create a large number of checks and want to avoid manually configuring each one through the user interface, the tool offers a quick and efficient alternative without requiring knowledge of the REST API.

When logged in to an Uptime.com user account, you can access the Bulk Import tool at this address.

The tool allows for defining the parameters of the imported checks, including:

  • Check Type (e.g., HTTP, Ping, DNS)
  • Check Name
  • URL or IP Address
  • Locations (monitoring regions or private locations)
  • Contacts (to be notified on failure)
  • Tags
  • Check Interval
  • Thresholds, Timeouts, and Retries
  • Custom Headers or Authentication Info (depending on the check type)

Note: When creating checks via the bulk import tool that are associated with contacts or tags, it is necessary to create the contacts or tags before importing the spreadsheet. The Contacts and Tags fields in the import spreadsheet are used to associate the check with already existing contacts and tags.

You can view a template and sample upload by viewing the Bulk Import/Export Checks page.

If you encounter any issues with the bulk import of checks, please contact support@uptime.com and we will be happy to help.
