What is Check Interval/Frequency?

Check interval or frequency is the amount of time between each monitoring check’s execution. For example, the default check interval for many checks is 5 minutes. This means that every 5 minutes, all of the selected Locations will ping the resource specified in the check and report its status.

Check frequency is important because it determines how quickly we can detect issues with your website or service. Some checks, such as HTTP(S) checks, should be performed at a higher frequency since they can potentially indicate serious issues that need a quick resolution (the entire website is down) while other checks such as domain expiry can be performed at lower frequencies since their status will not change often.

Each check type in the Uptime.com platform has a default frequency when it is first created according to the most beneficial interval. This can be changed at any time; one by one, or in bulk.
