Overview of Status Pages

Uptime.com Status Pages provide real-time updates on outages and maintenance to reduce confusion, improve transparency, and maintain customer confidence. Status Pages can be created and customized with many available options in terms of visibility, display, linked components, and more.

A status page is a public or restricted-access webpage that communicates the real-time and historical availability of your services to the people who depend on them. Instead of customers discovering an outage by hitting an error and opening a support ticket, a status page tells them what's happening before they have to ask.

A status page answers three questions for your users:

  • Is the service working right now? (current status)
  • Has this happened before, and how often? (history)
  • Is something planned that might affect me? (scheduled maintenance)

The following documents describe how to create, manage, and use your status pages to keep customers and users informed.

Status Page Management and General Settings: view, create, and edit your status pages, and manage the general settings that determine their visibility level and access options

Status Page Design and Display: configure options for how your status page is visually displayed to users

Status Page Components and System Metrics: assign components to your status page so users are informed of outages based on your checks

Status Page Subscriber Management: view and manage subscribers to your status page to ensure they receive timely notifications when an update is posted

Sharing and Securing Your Status Page: enable authorization through username/password, SSO, or external login to protect sensitive information

Status Page Visibility Types: set a Visibility Type for your status page to ensure the appropriate users have access

Status Page Maintenance: inform users of upcoming maintenance when known downtime will occur or connectivity will be affected

Status Page Incidents: convey to users the current or past state of downtime events that may affect service availability
