Status Page Visibility Types

Uptime.com offers multiple Status Page Visibility options, which each serve unique purposes. This determines who can view and use your Status Page. The Visibility option is chosen from the General tab. There are three options:

  • Public
  • Private
  • Uptime Users

Note that although Status Page types differ in their purposes and some customization options, they use the same basic design and can be similarly configured in terms of appearance, components, incidents, and maintenance.

Public Status Pages

Public status pages are designed to provide visitors with real-time information about the uptime and outages of the components associated with the Status Page. These pages are visible to the public; anyone with the link can view the page. They display data such as general system uptime, scheduled maintenance, downtime events, and ongoing incidents. They can be visible to the public or can require password protection.

Private Status Pages

Private Status Pages offer the same options in customization of appearance, components, checks, incidents, and maintenance as Public Status Pages. However, Private Status pages are only available to External Users. Use Private Status Pages when only users who are specifically invited should be able to view. Once a Status Page is set to the Private setting under Visibility, you will have access to the External Users tab:

To give a user access to your Private Status Page, click + New User and enter their name and email address. They will be sent a link to create a password and login to view your Private Status Page. Only users who are invited as External Users will have access to a Private Status Page.

Uptime Users

The Uptime Users setting is designed for internal teams to access service health information. These pages provide detailed insights into outages, incidents, and scheduled maintenance, but their visibility is limited to registered users within your Uptime.com account. Only users who have an active login to your Uptime.com account will be able to access these pages from the All Status Pages menu. This Visibility setting helps teams monitor and respond to incidents while keeping sensitive data within the organization.
